I started working at Fitness Playground just over a year ago and to be completely honest, I was both scared and excited for this new chapter in my life. However, when I joined this community of trainers and members, I knew this was the place for me. I have never felt so much support, love, motivation and drive from this kind of environment. There is always time for a laugh and never a dull moment. I travel all the way from Hornsby to teach my classes here (obviously worth it) and am proud to be a part of this community.

I originally joined Fitness Playground as a Personal Trainer while studying at university just as a side job to make an income during university, but I ended up completely falling in love with the job, the culture and the community, and I’m still here 4 years later, 2 years onwards from completing my degree in Sports and Exercise Science. It might sound cliché - but I’ve learnt so much more at this company in 3 years about myself, about fitness and training, about psychology and muscle anatomy than I did during my 3 years of university. My days fly by changing people's lives all while having fun with the team – sometimes I can’t believe I get paid (well) to do this – not one day ever feels like work!

Six years ago when I started at Fitness Playground, I could barely speak English. My vocabulary consisted of "squat" and "good". Other than learning English on the job (haha), I also learnt about team camaraderie, support, business and leadership. By having the right support and ability to evolve within the business, I was able to grow from a Personal Trainer, to Group Fitness Manager, to where I stand now as Head of Group Fitness. But to be honest, what I've achieved goes above and beyond a simple title. Every day, I find myself hungry for the opportunities and challenges that our FP team is capable of conquering.

My career in Fitness has moved from strength to strength under the FP banner. From walking through the Surry Hills club’s doors six years ago for my first personal training role, to managing teams of trainers across multiple locations, I have always felt supported and valued whilst being given the freedom to express myself in my role at Fitness Playground. The reason I chose to pursue management was to ensure that every member of staff had the experience I had, that they are made to feel like they really can make a difference. I am incredibly grateful to have found and become part of a community that challenges the status quo, that believes in the positive physical, emotional and social impact that the Fitness Industry can have.
